The upcoming Delhi University Student’s Union(DUSU) elections have already begun to generate excitement across campus as major student organizations announce their candidates. Among them the National Student’s Union Of India(NSUI), the student wing of the Indian National Congress has chosen Joslyn Nandita Choudhary as its official candidate for the post of President along with Rahul Jhansla for vice president , Kabir for the post of Secretary and Lavkush Bhadana for the post of Joint secretary . The last time a woman president was selected was in 2008 . The final list of candidates will be released on Thursday after the withdrawl process is over. The elections will be held on 18th September and the counting of votes will take place the next day. 2.75 lakh students are eligible to cast the votes.

Joslyn Nandita Choudhary belonging from Jodhpur district is a student leader who has been actively engaged in campus politics and youth activism . Known for her ability to connect with students across various departments, she has built her reputation on issues that matter most to Delhi University’s large and diverse student body – academic reforms, affordable accomodation, safety for women , better facilities and a more inclusive campus culture .
NSUI in recent years has focused on the importance of women’s leadership in student politics. A lot of enthusiasm is being seen among the students regarding DUSU elections. More than 50 nominations were filed for the posts out of which 73 were found valid . These include 21 nominations for the post of President, 20 for the post of secretary,17 for the post of joint secretary and 15 for the post of vice-president .15 female candidates were there which shows the increase of women participation in student politics .
This election is expected to see a tough fight between various student organizations . Simultaneously NSUI has laid special focus on giving representation to the youth .
