Surrey, Canada – A shocking attack unfolded Wednesday night at popular comedian Kapil Sharma’s café, Kap’s Café, located in Surrey, British Columbia. An unidentified assailant opened fire, riddling the café’s glass frontage with 12 bullets. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the brazen act of violence.
Soon after the incident, wanted Khalistani terrorist Harjit Singh Laddi, affiliated with the banned group Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), claimed responsibility. Laddi, listed among India’s most wanted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), has been previously linked to multiple extremist activities.
The incident has sparked heightened security concerns, both in Canada and in India. Mumbai Police swiftly acted by deploying local intelligence units to Kapil Sharma’s residence in Lokhandwala, Andheri. Officers from the Oshiwara Police Station conducted a thorough inspection of his building, DLH Enclave, home to several high-profile Bollywood personalities. While no specific threats against Sharma in Mumbai have been confirmed, the police have increased vigilance as a precaution.
In response to the attack, Kap’s Café issued a heartfelt message via Instagram Stories. “We opened Kap’s Cafe with hopes of bringing warmth, community, and joy… To have violence intersect with that dream is heartbreaking… but we are not giving up,” the statement read.
The attack has not only alarmed fans but also reignited discussions around the threats posed by overseas extremist factions. Authorities in both nations are expected to collaborate on identifying the perpetrators and ensuring public safety.
As investigations continue, supporters of Kapil Sharma and patrons of Kap’s Café are standing united, echoing a firm message: violence has no place in a community built on connection and kindness.
