Popular Haryanvi singer and rapper Fazilpuria, whose real name is Rahul Yadav, narrowly escaped a firing incident in Gurugram on Sunday evening. The attack took place on Southern Peripheral Road (SPR), near the Badshahpur area, when unidentified gunmen reportedly followed his vehicle and opened fire. Fazilpuria managed to escape unhurt and quickly left the scene. No injuries or damage were reported.
According to initial reports, the attackers were in a Tata Punch car and fired multiple rounds at Fazilpuria’s SUV. When the police arrived at the location, they found no shell casings or bullet marks. However, a formal investigation has been launched, and the police are reviewing CCTV footage and checking local surveillance in hopes of identifying the suspects.
Fazilpuria, known for hit tracks like “Kar Gayi Chull,” “2 Many Girls,” and “Jimmy Choo,” had earlier received police protection due to potential threats. However, the security cover was reportedly withdrawn recently, despite intelligence alerts warning of possible danger to the singer.
Notably, Fazilpuria also contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Gurugram on a Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) ticket. Following this recent incident, comparisons are being drawn with the high-profile killing of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala in 2022, raising concerns about the safety of public figures and celebrities, especially in northern India.
Police sources have stated that all angles—including rivalry, extortion threats, and gang-related motives—are being examined. The Special Task Force (STF) has also been alerted and is expected to assist in the probe. Meanwhile, Fazilpuria has not yet issued an official statement regarding the attack, but the incident has already triggered strong reactions from fans and fellow artists alike.
As investigations progress, the spotlight remains on law enforcement agencies to determine the intent behind the attack and to ensure the safety of artists and public personalities facing such targeted threats.
