In a major development in the BMW accident case in Delhi, the woman accused of driving the luxury car that fatally hit a motorcycle and killed a senior Finance Ministry official has been remanded to two days’ judicial custody.
According to officials, the accused, identified as Gagandeep Kaur (38), a resident of Gurugram and wife of Parikshit Makkar, was arrested on Monday after being discharged from the hospital. She was produced before the duty magistrate, who ordered judicial custody for two days.
The Fatal Accident
The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon on Ring Road near Delhi Cantonment Metro Station, where Deputy Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs, Navjot Singh (52), lost his life. Singh, a resident of Hari Nagar, was returning from Bangla Sahib Gurdwara with his wife when their two-wheeler was struck by the BMW. His wife sustained severe injuries in the crash.
Investigation & Arrest
Police confirmed that both the accused woman and her husband were injured in the collision and admitted to a hospital. After receiving medical treatment, Gagandeep was discharged and immediately taken into custody for interrogation. She was later arrested on multiple charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
