Hanuman Beniwal Accuses Energy Minister Hiralal Nagar of INR 2 Lakh Electricity Dues

Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) chief and Nagaur MP Hanuman Beniwal has stirred controversy by accusing Rajasthan’s Energy Minister Hiralal Nagar of defaulting on electricity payments exceeding ₹2.17 lakh. In a bold challenge to the state government, Beniwal questioned why the minister’s power supply was not disconnected despite the large dues, while his own residence in Nagaur faced disconnection.

According to Beniwal, the energy minister resides in two government flats—numbers 401 and 402—in Jyoti Nagar, Jaipur, along with a government bungalow on Hospital Road. While the dues on the flats were reportedly cleared through government funds, Beniwal claimed that the payment for the bungalow was blocked by the treasury, citing procedural reasons, and remains unpaid.

The RLP leader went further by alleging that the state’s ongoing smart meter project is part of an ₹11,000 crore scam, accusing officials of using digital billing to inflate costs and mislead consumers. He criticized the implementation of smart meters, claiming they leave the public helpless due to a lack of transparency and recourse.

Beniwal also alleged that certain political figures are enjoying special privileges, including uninterrupted electricity supply, despite outstanding dues. He called this a clear case of selective enforcement and political vendetta, pointing out that action was swiftly taken against his property while ignoring similar or more severe cases linked to those in power.

Vowing not to back down, Beniwal stated that he would pursue the matter legally and expose what he termed the double standards of the Rajasthan government. He has demanded an independent investigation into the minister’s dues and the overall functioning of the energy department.

The accusations come amid rising political tensions in the state, and they have sparked fresh debate over accountability, transparency, and the misuse of public office. With the spotlight now on Energy Minister Hiralal Nagar, the public and political observers alike await the government’s next move.
