T Raja Singh Resigns from BJP After Ramachander Rao’s Appointment as Telangana Chief

Hyderabad, Telangana – In a significant political shake-up, Union Minister and BJP national president J.P. Nadda has accepted the resignation of firebrand Telangana MLA T. Raja Singh from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with immediate effect. The move comes amid internal dissent over the appointment of Ramachander Rao as the new Telangana BJP president.

T. Raja Singh, who represents the Goshamahal constituency in Hyderabad, is widely recognized for his hardline Hindutva ideology and controversial remarks. His exit marks a pivotal moment for the BJP in Telangana, as he remains a prominent face of the party’s Hindutva narrative in the region.

The resignation was confirmed via an official letter issued by Arun Singh, BJP’s National General Secretary and Headquarters Incharge. The letter stated that Singh’s comments were “irrelevant” and “do not match the functioning, ideology, and principles of the party.” Based on directives from J.P. Nadda, the resignation was accepted without further deliberation.

A Troubled Relationship with the BJP

Singh’s association with the BJP has long been tumultuous. Twice suspended for his inflammatory remarks—including controversial statements about Prophet Mohammed in 2022 and 2024—Singh has often walked a tightrope within the party. Despite this, he secured three consecutive wins from Goshamahal and retained grassroots support.

While Singh’s formal association with the BJP has ended, he remains undeterred in his political mission. Reiterating his allegiance to Hindutva, he said, “My commitment is to Hindu Dharma and the people of my constituency, regardless of party lines.”

With state elections on the horizon, Singh’s next political move could significantly impact Telangana’s political dynamics, particularly among right-wing voter bases.
